On the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of various levels of government, veterans' associations, and citizens' associations paid tribute and laid wreaths of flowers at the Eternal Flame Memorial in Sarajevo.
In a statement to the press, the Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of B&H Bakir Izetbegović congratulated all citizens on March 1 - Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina and wished them all the best, convinced that "this holiday will be celebrated every year".
-Normal things will prevail. It is normal to love the name of the country in which you were born, to love the country in which you were born, to appreciate the neighbor next to whom you live, with whom you grew up. It is not normal to have problems with neighbors, with the name of your own country. These are normal values of civilization, they must prevail- Izetbegović emphasized.
Today, Bosnia and Herzegovina marks 29 years since the citizens decided in a referendum that they want to live in an independent state. The results of the referendum enabled the international recognition of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an independent state.
