Migrants and refugees staying at the "Lipa" camp accepted meals today, ending their hunger strike that lasted for four days due to dissatisfaction with the living conditions at this locality. Red Cross volunteers have already shared one meal and other necessities of life and will repeat the same in the afternoon.

-We talked to these people and explained to them that intensive work is being done to improve their current living conditions and they have finally accepted the food. Also, it was agreed to close the food kiosks in the immediate vicinity of the camp, because it seems that food was delivered and made only for those who have money. Of course, competent authorities will react now. The most important is that people have accepted the food and that we now have the opportunity to provide them with more dignified conditions- said Secretary of the Red Cross of the City of Bihać, Selam Midžić.

Migrants and refugees remain frustrated with the current situation, but now a little more optimistic.

-We are hungry and cold, so we are not in a situation to be stubborn. We hope that we will soon replace these catastrophic conditions with better ones, which were promised to us- said Ali from Pakistan.

The military tents set up on a nearby plot that should serve as temporary accommodation until the camp is fully built and equipped, are still empty.

The approval of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the preparation of the site and the tent for the temporary stay of about 1,000 people is awaited, and the implementation of all this is expected every day.
