Academician Muris Čičić is the new president of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of B&H (ANUB&H), it was decided at yesterday's election session of the Assembly of this institution. The Assembly also elected two vice presidents, namely Lidija Lincender-Cvijetić and Mirko Pejanović and Secretary General Asif Šabanović.
Academician Čičić pointed out for "Dnevni Avaz" that his feelings were mixed on the occasion of this election.
- On the one hand, I am glad and thank all the colleagues who elected me through a secret ballot. In this way, my colleagues expressed trust in me and my work - said Čičić.
He added that the trust shown encourages him, but also scares him.
- I am aware of the importance of science and art in our society, but also in any other. I am also aware of the responsibility to be at the head of an institution that has the primary task of encouraging scientific research projects and goals, and to encourage art and culture. You have to understand me, on the one hand I am happy, I am glad, but on the other hand it echoes in my head "oh, my God, what am I going to do now" - explained Čičić.
According to him, in the coming period, the Academy will try to highlight the essential problems of B&H society.
- I will try to escape from the trivial nonsense and foolishness that we mostly deal with. In my statements, I often deviated from the established truths and expected answers, and I hope that we will continue with this practice - Čičić emphasized.
Members of the Presidency of ANUB&H were elected for the term of office in period 2021-2023.
