European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday (September 30th) to meet with senior B&H officials.
Von der Leyen said earlier that she wanted to confirm her commitment to the accession process by visiting the countries of the Western Balkans, adding that she owed it to young people who believe in the future of Europe.
According to the protocol of the visit to B&H, the President of the European Commission is scheduled to officially open the Svilaj Bridge on Thursday, which will connect the highway on Corridor V-c from the B&H and Croatian sides of the Sava River.
As FENA learns, the opening of the bridge should be attended by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of B&H Zoran Tegeltija (SNSD), the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković, as well as the Minister of Communications and Transport of B&H Vojin Mitrović and the Croatian Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković.
The opening of the Svilaj Bridge was announced last month by Dragan Čović, Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the B&H Parliamentary Assembly and President of the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) B&H, during an official visit to Odžak Municipality.
Construction of the Svilaj Bridge began in August 2016. The Svilaj Bridge is 660 meters long, and the total width of the bridge is 29 meters. For each direction, there are three lanes 3.50 m wide, without a stop lane with protective traffic belts of 0.5 m on both sides, and a concrete monolithic pedestrian path 0.75 m wide.
