The office of the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor told the "Avaz" portal that Pahor is an advocate of Bosnia and Herzegovina, its territorial integrity, European perspective and peaceful development, which he always consistently emphasizes.
B&H Presidency Member Željko Komšić said today that the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor, during his recent visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, at a meeting with members of the B&H Presidency said that lately there have been more and more voices in Europe that the disintegration of Yugoslavia should be completed and he asked: "Can you in BiH peacefully disperse?".
However, the office of the President of Slovenia told Avaz:
- The President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor is an advocate of Bosnia and Herzegovina, its territorial integrity, European perspective and peaceful development, which he always consistently emphasizes. President Pahor wants B&H to become part of the European Union as soon as possible. He consistently emphasizes the importance of a geopolitical approach to the enlargement of the European Union, which would also include B&H, which currently has the weakest formal ties with the EU. President Pahor regularly warns against the idea of disintegrating B&H and redrawing borders in the Western Balkans. In that context, out of concern about these ideas, he asked his interlocutors about this topic, all three members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, when he visited Sarajevo in early March - the Office of the President of Slovenia told "Avaz".
We are sedning you a part of the speech of the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor, which he gave on September 25th, 2020. in the Assembly of the Republic of Northern Macedonia:
- I would like to emphasize my assessment, which is important, if it is correct: if the enlargement of the European Union does not take place or the enlargement is too late, the thesis will slowly appear in that region that the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia is not over yet and that ethnic boundaries need to be respected instead of existing ones. We know from historical experience that there is very little opportunity for such a process to proceed peacefully and without conflicts that could affect security and stability in Southeast Europe more widely. That is why I have said many times that the enlargement of the European Union to the Western Balkans is an exclusive political issue that requires an even better-thought-out strategy from the European Union.
In the light of the European perspective of the Western Balkans, the President of the Republic is preparing a meeting of the leaders of the Brdo - Brijuni Process initiative, expected in May, it was said.
