Volunteers of the Red Cross of the City of Bihać and the Una-Sana Canton (USC) continue to distribute meals for more than 900 migrants and refugees at the Lipa camp near Bihać.
-We continue to distribute two daily meals. For today’s first meal we shared boiled eggs, canned fish, hot tea, oranges and five liters of water. The situation is definitely a little better, thanks to the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of B&H and our police officers, who have finally established some order here. I must also mention the significant help of non-governmental and humanitarian organizations, and I hope that the tents will be ready soon- said the Secretary of the Red Cross of the City of Bihać, Selam Midžić.
Migrants and refugees have been a little calmer in recent days, but still eagerly awaiting more adequate accommodation and living space.
-We are waiting patiently because we now have two daily meals. People visit us more often and think a little more about us. We really hope that everything they promised us will come true soon- said Muhammad from Afghanistan.
The preparation of the plot with the military tents of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the temporary accommodation of these people has begun, until the completion of construction works in the camp itself.
The beds and mattresses arrived yesterday, and the problems with the supply of electricity and water, as well as the way to heat the tents, are expected to be solved very soon.
