Yesterday, the Prosecutor's Office of B&H filed an indictment against Vahidin Šahinpašić, Chief Inspector of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA). He is charged with the criminal offenses of unlawful deprivation of liberty and obstruction of justice.
He is charged that on August 30th, 2017., then Deputy Chief of the SIPA Criminal Investigation Department, without respecting internal procedures and without the knowledge or order of the competent prosecutor and the court, issued an order to SIPA members to locate and detain a person with the initials J. Š. Đ. They did so and held the detainee illegally.
Šahinpašić is also charged with using threats, intimidation, promising and offering illicit benefits in the night between 5th and 6th of September 2017-, and forcing J. Š. Đ. to drink alcohol with the aim of giving a false statement against the then Deputy Chief Prosecutor Gordana Tadić and the then Vice President of the HJPC Ružica Jukić.
He is charged with, as an official in B&H institutions, unlawfully depriving another of his freedom of movement and using threats, intimidation, promising and offering illicit benefits in order to induce another to give false testimony in criminal proceedings under B&H law.
